Chi Chi definitely was the better choice here. It provided a twist in the story, brought Dr. Gero back to the spotlight in a natural manner and also maybe gave an extra layer to the good doctor's personality.

Mr Popo's appearance would be inconsistent with the canon story if you think about it. He and Kami have clearly stated that they don't want to interfere directly with human's affairs. Furthermore, during the first reign of king Piccolo, neither Mr Popo nor Kami attacked him or his minions.

Yeah, your decision to put Chi-Chi instead was by far the best one. Bravo Chewys, really your writing instincts are excellent! Looking forward for the next installment

Agreed, I watch these fanfics for new interesting takes on the story, not to re-read dragonball. Good on you for bringing back chi-chi in such an interesting way!
