presentation of Jisuk

Jisuk Cho was born in Seoul, South Korea and is currently living in Tokyo, Japan. Somewhere in the middle of all that, Jisuk went to the School of Visual Arts in NYC and managed to pry a BFA in Animation out of the chairman's trembling, reluctant hands.

1. What do you take pride in? 2. Through any of your work, where do you see it going? Is it getting there and are we (the audience) seeing it? 3. How are you today?

Reponse:

I actually take pride in my teaching skills. I’ve had more of a sense of accomplishment and connections to others with this job than I’ve had with art jobs in the past. I get great feedback and praise here. I get to hear directly from my clients how much I’ve helped them and how much they enjoy talking with me. It’s really satisfying and just pushes me to do better! Also my writing (though it could always use improvement)!

I want to eventually publish Fishbones, but finding an agent is a path of lots of work and lots of rejection that I can’t bring myself to go down. I have more faith in the comic and the chance of it getting published someday, to be honest. I’m also really enjoying writing Karasu, though I’m not sure what I will do with it once it’s done.

I had a great day, thanks! How about you?

1. Dream animation show/job you'd like to work on right now; 2. Would you ever consider acting (and/or) directing one day?; 3. inspirations

Reponse:

I’m actually kind of done with animation for the time being. I’m more focused on my writing and personal creations and don’t see myself re-entering that field anytime soon. If an animation job just fell into my lap, I would probably just stay here in Japan. That said, I used to want to work on Futurama like crazy bad.

As for acting, I don’t think I would be a very good actor! I was in a one-act play in high school and it was incredibly hard for me to not burst out laughing the entire time. I don’t have much interest in live-action stuff! I was actually much happier on the stage crew — I was lighting crew chief my senior year and loved it.

My biggest inspirations right now are Japan and Osamu Tezuka. But I have a bunch that have influenced me in the past. Here is a convenient chart that I put up on DA a while ago!

Favorite desert, cats or dogs, and allergies? :D <3

Reponse:

I’m not actually that big on sweets, but I do like chocolate, tiramisu, coffee flavored things etc when I’m in the mood! I love both cats and dogs (I’ve had both) but I currently have two cats (back in New York with some good friends) that I love dearly. No real allergies, unless you count miscellaneous seasonal sneezing.
