That's interesting that you thought this was a dream and that resembled his past in some way. I wondered what about this made you feel that way despite the fact that he should be unconscious at this point. (Also I wish I knew how to speak French. I feel like this would make things way easier.)

The situation is weird : a lot of people came from nowhere, in the rain. There is a child, a woman with a skirt, and some other guys with t shirts. There is two person with something like blood stains (the men at middle and at left)
So, maybe the rain is hot in this country, but why a parent would let his child participate to a fight like that ?
Finally, the man at middle came directly to Hayze, as if he knew him. Not "who are you", "what do you want", or some thing like that.

That's interesting. They didn't really come out of no where, i think, since it was established before that the area they were in was pretty highly populated. They're still in the city. That and everyone knows there's aliens on the loose tormenting the town.

Also, Gobes is right. These people aren't human at all. They're a different species and what they want to do, by instinct, is to get rid of Hayze. They haven't had violence for a long time (or that's what we think), but the soldier introduced violence when he attacked the car. Also most of the attackers are adults, which on this planet, means they aren't "ignorant". There is one child, but that's because it's one of the attacker's kids. The kid just kind of followed.

i think the misunderstanding is because we see through hayze's eyes, but in third person view, so it was blured in the first scene, and from that i think people assume it is a dream because you use third person view so he see is body, wich mostly happen in dream... maybe the fact that we see is hand in the 4th panel is not enough for your reader to understand we see through hayze eyes in the whole page:/

I have a theory on why there is a confusion. Won't say what it is though.

This actually isn't an error in the storytelling. The reason as to why I think this is interesting is because the assumption is somewhat correct, but not very literally. This isn't a dream or a delusion and it doesn't necessarily deal with Hayze's past....but thinking it is isn't a bad thing. There's all kinds of theories and connections made for this comic. Some are right. Some are dead wrong. If someone makes an incorrect assumption, that's not an error on either one of our parts. He's not wrong for reading it a different way than I intended it to be read. It's the nature of Vacant's story telling.

I wanted him to explain it that way I understand as an author why the connection was made in the first place. You're going to find out in the next page it's not a dream, so it's not a big deal anyway.
