Hi everyone! We’re updating before Sunday with some big news, both good and bad.
First off, the not-so-great news: Spirit Parade isn’t going to be ready for release by the end of 2015. We underestimated just how much time it would take to add the extra things such as the Mikio and Diaochan routes and the full voice-acting. The last thing we want to do is compromise on quality and put out a rushed, subpar game, so we’re going to push back the release date to make sure Spirit Parade is the best that it can be. We don’t anticipate it being released very late into 2016, but we’ll give a concrete release date once we get closer to the game being finished.
Of course, the preorder sales will continue at the price of $10 for the time being. People preordering Spirit Parade gives us the funds necessary to afford things like music for the game and supports the dev team while we work on it, so we deeply appreciate everyone who’s preordered the game so far. And, of course, we are very grateful for everyone’s support and interest in general. We will continue updating this blog every 2 weeks so you can see that we’re hard at work on the game.
The good news is that to tide everyone over while the game’s being completed, we’re releasing an updated version of the demo! This new demo has some updated art/UI, added Haiyue scenes (though he will only appear if you make certain choices), and full voice acting!
Here’s our voice cast list again:
Nara: Jill Harris
Hayato: Mark Allen Jr.
Shuye: SungWon Cho
Haiyue: Howard Wang
Mikio: River Kanoff (does not appear in the demo)
Diaochan: Natalie Van Sistine (does not appear in the demo)
Sakuya: Amanda Gonzalez
Asuka: Sarah WilliamsExtra character voices are also provided by Curtis Arnott, Scott Frerichs, Anthony Sardinha, and Steven Kelly. The voice casting and direction are by Sound Cadence Studios.
You can download the demo from our itch.io page. The demo covers the entirety of the common route and also has two bad endings and two normal endings. We believe the game is about at a CERO-C/PG-13 level for some language and stylized violence. We have a font selection option so that you may change the game’s font to Open Dyslexic and all other game menus such as the CG Gallery and Music Box are functional.
The story centers on Nara (her name can be set by the player), a cynical 17-year-old girl who mostly shut herself off from the world after contracting spinal polio at a young age and becoming unable to walk. One night while at a festival in town, her soul is suddenly pulled from her body and transported to the Spirit World, where all the demons and spirits are celebrating a month-long festival. Until the end of this festival, Nara won’t be able to return home…
Please let us know what you think of the game by tagging your Tumblr posts and tweets with #SpiritParade or #Spirit Parade! We would appreciate any feedback you might have. Thank you again for your support!
