The Fishbones Kickstarter has been launched!

Fishbones was a labor of love. It was only with the support of friends and followers that it managed to be completed and every one of you has my deepest gratitude. Printing the book itself is the last step in this project and I hope that you will be as excited to hold it in your hands as I am.

Any reblogs or support will be greatly appreciated, thank you so much!

Little less than a week left! Thanks for all of your support so far!

dmtodrumming :
I really love your comic Fishbones. (first webcomic I've ever read) Do you think it will continue anytime soon?

Reponse:

I’m really sorry, but the artist had to take a break for animation school (as well as work) and doesn’t have time at the moment. I’ll make an announcement if her situation changes in the future. Thanks for your support!

Long Day by yapi

It must be tiring to work for the mob, more so for Demos.

Ji made me read something last night, and it reminded me of the fact that a while ago, I actually had a crush on Ferris. And I’ve been thinking about that all day today, so after I did enough work on some commissions, I decided to wind down for the evening by doing a quick sketch of a poor tired older Ferris.

Originally he was supposed to have a Red Bull in his hand, but decided a gun would be better :D

This was done in Sim City 3000 and Photoshop back when I was writing the book. I was able to sculpt the land and water however I wanted, but for the city I actually had to play the game for a few days. You can’t plop buildings down wherever you want, so I had to wait for my idiot Sims to build it up the way I wanted.

Southport, NY
Founded: 1695
Population: 3,589,000
Mayor: Gregory Palmisano (R)
Baseball Team: Southport Devils
Demonym: Southporter

Southport is an east coast city that not only is fictional, but is basically impossible. There is simply not enough of New York state touching the coastline for Southport to exist. Theoretically, Southport is an extruding peninsula north of New York City. It also bears the name of Southport, though it is ironically located in the northern-most region of the United States.

It wasn’t until I passed a sign while on the Metro North train (after the book was finished) that I realized Southport, NY is a real town. Very small, but real. My mistake.

Fictional Southport is a metropolis, being larger than Chicago but smaller than New York City. Most of the coastline is reserved for docks, making Southport a bustling hub for ships and trade. Unfortunately the land value around docks and warehouses tends to suffer. There are two basic halves to the city, being the obvious north and south sections, separated by a wide river. The southern-most half holds a thriving commercial sector as well as luxury homes and apartments. The Southside is also primarily run by the Giorgetti family, while the poorer Northside is split mostly between the Irish and the Mariani crime family. Neither syndicate is fond of the Giorgettis, who hog all of the city’s power and influence to themselves. Tennant Island, in the center, is mostly composed of upscale apartments and a couple museums.

Victor Giorgetti - ‘00 Lincoln Town Car (black)
I think we're all familiar with Victor's car.

Gino Giorgetti - ‘00 Maserati Quattroporte IV (white)
Gino has a collection of cars, but this one is his default.

Harold Levinstein - ‘00 Nissan Maxima (silver)
Harold is the only man in the Giorgetti gang with a Japanese car. Though it gives a hint of his practicality, he still bought the most expensive Nissan.

Salvatore Viggiano - ‘81 Cadillac Eldorado (black)
Enter Sal, owner of the ugliest, oldest car in the group. Try to guess how many shits he gives.

Nicky Morello - ‘92 Cadillac DeVille (gray)
Nicky's is probably the second ugliest car, but in the 90's that was pretty much the trend.

Demos Giorgetti - ‘84 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce (gunmetal gray)
Demos couldn't decide on a car at any of the dealerships he went to, and ended up receiving this car as a gift from Gino.

Ferris Levinstein - '06 Honda Civic (Galaxy Gray)
Ferris doesn't get his own car until he comes back from college. It's affordable/practical because Ferris.

jisuk:

Cars used by Fishbones characters. A note before you judge the cars — the book starts in the year 2000 and ends in 2002 and 90’s cars are incredibly ugly. That’s the way it’s gotta be, sorry! Most of them get newer cars as the story goes on, but these are the ones they have initially.

I would say finish book 2 of Karasu, then Fishbones 2

I’m really surprised and happy that you guys actually like Karasu. To be honest, though, I’ve been so disappointed with the most recent chapter and Shichi’s design that I lost all motivation to write it. I haven’t written anything for a month and it has nothing to do with Fishbones. Editing Fishbones recently, however, has renewed my excitement for the story and I feel that if I don’t start a sequel now, I probably never will. It’s still a tough decision, though, and sorry if I’m disappointing anyone.

Fishbones 2

jisuk:

Hi everyone! I’ve put a lot of thought into it and I’m considering making another stretch goal — if the Kickstarter were to reach $8,000, I could start writing a sequel. This would require a lot of time and research (on yakuza) and I can’t promise it will be finished soon. I would probably put…
